OH Architecture designs places for people with a down-to-earth approach firmly based on a philosophy of listening first, designing second. As a quickly growing business, OH Architecture recognised a need to streamline their production and design workflows with a high quality and professional deliverable with a move to Building Information Modelling. Having previously been using Autodesk® AutoCAD®, they were in the process of migrating to Autodesk® Revit®. In consultation with Xrev, OH Architecture requested a bespoke solution designed for their unique requirements.
Having already begun the implementation process internally, OH Architecture had several goals:
- Identify opportunities to improve design systems.
- Optimise the workflow from Sketchup to Autodesk® Revit®.
- Improve and standardise documentation outputs for all stages of the design process.
- Gain efficiencies in producing deliverables.
- Understand optimal processes for difficult phased modelling with partial demolition, building relocation and reuse.
- Upskill the team with Autodesk® Revit® and associated tools.
- Access to a quality library of content and resources.
Following an initial audit of the existing systems and workflows, Xrev put together a focused and concise plan for success. After agreement with OH Architecture, Xrev was quick to action the plan by supplying a powerful Autodesk® Revit® Library (XContent™), fully customised Autodesk® Revit® Template, reviewed and migrated over specialised existing content, configured and deployed Autodesk® Revit® as well as recommended value added software.However, a system isn’t complete without the expertise to take advantage of it. All staff were trained specifically to get the most from the new solution along with advanced skills in building standards based Autodesk® Revit® content. Furthermore, they were given access to a live subscription based BIM Knowledge Base (XKnow™) which provides on demand training resources and access to company standards.
Xrev was then able to test and refine the solution by delivering 2 projects on behalf of OH Architecture. This included modelling and full construction documentation.
Having a well thought out and refined solution in place and the skills to use it, OH Architecture now have increased capacity, higher quality and higher detailed standardised outputs. They can use Autodesk® Revit® with confidence and produce construction quality models and documentation in just a few days.
